Anxiety
Now... Let's talk about Anxiety
You've probably heard this word quite a bit or felt it on different occasions.
It's been one of the most prevalent emotions in our society in recent years.
But, What is the Anxiety?
It is described as an emotion characterized by apprehension and somatic symptoms of
tension in which an individual anticipates impending danger where our body responds as it would to a threat, tensing our muscles, quickening our breathing, and making our heart beat very fast.
In other words, anxiety is an emotion that, guided by our brain, anticipates what may become a threat or danger in the future.
The thing about anxiety is that, most of the time, these scenarios we imagine never end up becoming reality.
Making all this discomfort we went through unnecessary and this irrational fear can even make us back down from doing things we really wanted to achieve.
If you're feeling anxius, don't worry this emotion is quite normal, especially in our current world, where we are so overstimulated by social media that imagining a thousand scenarios where something else might happen becomes almost impossible to avoid.
BUT It's really important to recognize some signs that may indicate an anxiety disorder.
Things like feeling anxious every day or experiencing anxiety or panic attacks, difficulty concentrating, insomnia, or feeling irritable all the time are warning signs, and it's very important to take action, such as consulting a specialist, so that it doesn't negatively impact the way you live your life.
Some common anxious Trigers
Finances or money
Job security or performance
Health
Relationships
Completing household chores and other responsibilities
Now that we've discussed the problem itself, it's time to talk about how we can solve it.
Note: It's important to emphasize that if you have any of the signs of an anxiety disorder, it's better to consult with an expert.
But if it's something that only happens occasionally and isn't too severe, here are some strategies that I personally use to manage anxiety, and I hope they work for you too.
Find an easy recipe and make it. Focusing on doing something by following instructions allows you to relax, and in the end you'll have something delicious to eat.
Walk or do some physical activity while humming or trying to remember the lyrics or rhythm of a song it will help to avoid overthinking and focus solely on the song.
Watch a movie you like that simply makes you feel happy or calm (my recommendation would be Legally Blonde, which, besides being fun, shows us that we can achieve anything we set our minds to).
Find an easy craft project, or simply grab a paintbrush, a sheet of paper and paint the first thing that comes to mind; it could be a tree, a flower, anything.
